Filmul lui Richard Linklater, Boyhood, a câștigat cele mai multe premii azi-noapte, la cea de-a 72-a ediție a Globurilor de Aur. Acesta a fost premiat pentru cel mai bun film (dramă), cel mai bun regizor și cea mai bună actriță în rol secundar (Patricia Arquette).
Alte două filme au primit mai mult de un premiu: Birdman și The Theory of Everything.
Birdman a câștigat pentru cel mai bun scenariu (Alejandro González Iñárritu, Nicolás Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris şi Armando Bo) și cel mai bun actor – comedie sau musical (Michael Keaton).
De cealaltă parte, The Theory of Everything a fost premiat la categoriile: Cel mai bun actor – dramă (Eddie Redmayne) și Cea mai bună coloană sonoră originală (Jóhann Jóhannsson).
Poate cea mai mare surpriză s-a înregistrat la categoria Cel mai bun film – comedie sau musical, unde The Grand Budapest Hotel a fost preferat în locul lui Birdman. De asemenea, favoritul categoriei Cel mai bun film străin era reprezentantul Poloniei, Ida, însă membrii Asociației Presei Străine de la Hollywood au ales filmul rus Leviathan.
