Ca în fiecare an, prestigioasa revistă britanică Sight & Sound a publicat la finalul lui noiembrie topul celor mai bune filme din anul curent. Anul acesta, la realizarea topului au contribuit 163 de critici iar cel mai bun film din 2016 a fost votat Toni Erdmann, apărut și la noi pe 21 octombrie.
Locul al doilea aparține lui Moonlight, de Barry Jenkins, recent premiat la Gotham Awards 2016.
Iar pe locul al treilea se află Elle, o co-producție franco-germană regizată de Paul Verhoeven.
Pe locul al 11-lea în topul celor mai bune filme din 2016 publicat de Sight & Sound se află și Sieranevada al lui Cristi Puiu.
Numai 5 filme din acest top au avut premiera în România.
